• METS QEST project deployed the weekend of 6/27 – 6/28. Please see the release notes for changes.
• DHS meets daily to address county and tribal questions around the QEST deploy.
• Procedures and worker support material are being developed to assist agencies with the new METS changes.
• LoginMN was deployed to the METS production and training regions. See the DHS SIR announcement for additional details. Please see the 6/28/26 DHS SIR announcement for instructions to access the METS production and training regions.
• Health care training is continuing development of case note scripts for health care cases in MAXIS. Once these are complete, we will notify county and tribal partners.
• Updates to the MAXIS AVSA STAT panel will be implemented effective 8/1/26. An inhibiting edit will be deployed that will display if the AVSA panel is not entered for required applicants or enrollees. This change will not affect a case until the case is updated or when a new application is being entered.
• DHS continues to identify and work through HR1 federal requirements. We will provide additional information once decisions and procedures near completion.
o We have announced changes to affected non-citizen populations affected by the HR1 changes effective October 1, 2026.
o We are working on ONEsource procedures for these changes.
• Please see recently published DHS bulletins and ONEsource procedures for update to date information for health care programs.
NOTE: DHS will issue communications about changes to training, procedural, or policy once they are published.
Health Care Training Updates
Training Team Updates:
• Reminder: METS Systems (MNSIAP550H training is currently suspended from the months of May through July 2026 due to the system updates. METS training will resume in August with multiple agencies already registered.
• METS Systems (MNSIAP550H) training has been updated. Online prerequisite courses have also been updated and republished. These are available for new and existing workers to take in TrainLink.
• New! METS systems training security requirements have changed. Agency security liaisons must request the following training regions in METS, MAXIS and MMIS skills maintenance before workers attend the training:
o METS Training region (TRNG) – HCR role
Note: The METS TRNG region is accessed through LoginMN, your worker may receive an email to register a Worker Login account if one does not exist. Follow the email instructions to create an account.
o MAXIS Training region – MAXIS IPAM role
o MMIS Skills Maintenance region – C7 role
• New! The Cost-Effective Health Insurance course (MNSIAP540) has been added to the METS training series. This is a required course before workers can enroll in the METS Systems training. This has not been added to the MA Legacy Systems (HCP305H) training series.
• Please see the 6/28/2026 DHS SIR announcement for accessing the METS production and training regions through LoginMN.
• Please review training update announcements in the Health Care Training TrainLink page for course updates and requirements.
• The state learning management system process is continuing but a final release date has not yet been determined. Once all details have been finalized, we will notify our partner agencies.
• We are working on the 2027 health care training calendar. If your agency has hiring dates planned for 2027 and have large groups, please notify the training team. Reminder that TrainLink will allow users to see future training dates 12 months out from the current month.
• We are working on the METS TRNG region availability calendar for 2027, once the dates are confirmed, we will release a new schedule.
Training Reminders:
• Review training requirements and course requirements for updated or additional required training for health care training tracks.
• Health care training may add new courses to online prerequisites from time to time, review the announcements in the Health Care Training Information page in TrainLink for updated information.
• Health care programs can be complex for new workers. Health care training recommends your agency allow new staff sufficient time to learn one system before learning a new system. This allows workers to retain more information when they go through training.
• Heath care training requires attendees to turn on their cameras when attending training if webcams are available. This change is being implemented to help in class facilitation and connecting attendees with instructors.
• Important Note: System access for MAXIS, MMIS and METS can be deactivated if not accessed on a regular monthly basis. This may result in staff having to retake training. Please keep your access up to date.
o This includes individual logons for the MAXIS, MMIS and METS TRNG regions.
• The MA Legacy Systems (HCP305H) and METS Systems (MNSIAP550H) courses are new worker courses that county, tribal and DHS staff must take to gain access to production environments. Please review training requirements if your agency has not recently sent staff to training. These courses have online prerequisites and homework requirements before your staff can attend the training.
o Details about training courses and tracks can be found in the Health Care Training Information page in TrainLink.
• Health Care training is scheduling MA-LTC Systems (HCP895) more frequently. Scheduling of training will take into account annual changes.
o It is recommended that staff planning to attend the MA-LTC training be experienced in health care processing in MAXIS. This class addresses advanced topics so will not have time to review basics that are taught in the MA Legacy Systems (HCP305H) class.
o Completion of the MA Legacy Systems (HCP305H) course is required before workers can start taking the MA-LTC online prerequisite training courses.
• County and tribal staff who have lost or not had production update access for 12 months or more must repeat the health care systems courses before security will grant access.
• If you have groups of 6 or more in your training, please let us know so we can work with your schedule. Training coordinators should email requests to the trainers registration inbox (dhs.hc.trainersregistration-rqts@state.mn.us)
• Training coordinators should send all health care training seat reservation requests to dhs.hc.trainersregistration-rqts@state.mn.us
OTHER TRAINING:
METS Super User and Prospect Training: The prospects and METS super user course MNSIAP900 has been taken down due to outdated material. We have incorporated the instructions from this course into ONEsource. Agencies can request METS SuperUser access if your staff meet the requirements.
Information about prospects and recommendations for the METS SuperUser role can be found in the Super User and Prospect Training page of the DHS Health Care Training Toolkit in DHS SIR.
Note: METS Super User access requests should be sent to the DHS Trainers using the registration email at dhs.hc.trainersregistration-rqts@state.mn.us. A form must be completed and submitted by a county supervisor along with a business reason for Super User access. You can get a copy of the access request form and information about the superuser role by emailing the training email above or by visiting the SuperUser and Prospects page in the Health Care Training Toolkit page in DHS SIR.
HCE-PIX:
• Monthly PIX – PIX recordings are available in DHS SIR about 24 – 48 hours after presentation, please check SIR announcements for upcoming sessions.
• Refresher training recordings have been added to the PIX page. Additional sessions will be added as we complete more presentations.
Recordings for PIX can be accessed in DHS SIR under the MMIS/METS library along attachments presented at the session. All of the PIX handouts and agenda are available on the PIX site for up to one year.
Note: Any handouts associated with the PIX presentations are accurate as of the time of presentation and should not be used apart from the presentation.
ONEsource:
ONEsource procedures are updated on a regular basis. Significant updates include a short summary of the change on the updates/changes section of the ONEsource landing page. Review the ONEsource landing page for new or updated procedures. Updates generally are not announced on DHS SIR unless it is a significant change or new procedure.
Issues with ONEsource procedures should be submitted through the “Report this page (Requires SIR logon)” link on each page. These requests are reviewed and assigned on a weekly basis.
Others
If you submitted a request or question to the DHS Trainers online inbox with questions and have not received a response, we are likely researching your request. Training related questions are addressed by the training team while questions that require research may take longer due to additional research.
ONEsource requests should be submitted via the report page option.
Policy-related questions should be submitted through HealthQuest as these are often case specific. Follow your agency HealthQuest submission procedures.
